凯蒂派瑞丝（贝拉索恩 饰）从小罹患无法治癒的遗传性疾病─着色性乾皮症，对紫外线极其敏感的她，只要暴露在一丝阳光下就可能会有生命危险，凯蒂的爸爸杰克（罗伯里格尔 饰）为保护她，严格管制她的外出时间，凯蒂白天只能待在家中与吉他为伴、享受着唱歌与创作的时光，并从房间窗户内渴望接触外面的世界。 每当夜色降临，也是凯蒂唯一可以熘出去的时刻，她喜欢带着吉他在人来人往的火车站自弹自唱，某日偶然经过的查理（派翠克史瓦辛格 饰）被她的歌声深深吸引，凯蒂无法相信站在她眼前的查理，竟是她从小暗恋的心仪对象！对凯蒂一见锺情的查理，两人渐渐激出爱的火花，但对于隐瞒自己病情的凯蒂，这段得来不易的爱情要如何维持下去呢？
